ISO 26000 adopted as European standard.

European standard: ISO26000 is adopted as a CEN-standard. 21 October 2020 the stakeholder consultation process in the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) finally decided that ISO 26000 is approved as a CEN-standard.

This means, in short, that all CEN members (EU-members, EFTA members Iceland, Norway, Switzerland; and United Kingdom, North Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia) have to

implement CEN/ISO 26000 as a national standard and cancel all similar national standards

Note: implement in this context basically means translate, adopt as national standard, make available. It does not mean that all organisations/companies must use/comply with the standard. All standards are voluntary until required by law or agreement.

The latest date by which the CEN/ISO 26000 has to be “implemented” at national level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement is 30 April 2021.

  1. I have participated in the development of the original standard in 2010, I would like to know is this new version of ISO-26000:2020 has any differences with the 2010 version.
    Thanks in advance
