India adopts ISO 26000 as national standard

After 9 years of local negotiations between stakeholders in India consensus has been reached: ISO 26000:2010 Guidance on Social Responsibility is adopted as a national standard. The standard was adopted as it was originally worded with one exception, the long Annex listing voluntary social responsibility tools was not included.

This means, among many other positive things, that organizations such as Indian Social Responsibility Network (https://isrn.in) with its 600 partner organisations will have a nationally adopted reference to use. It also means that communication related to social responsibility is facilitated in India’s import and export.
